Trump kicked off his 2020 campaign with a rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Boisterous crowd filled the arena. Trump was his campaign rally self–bragging on his achievements, threatening his opponents, call his rivals names, going after the people who started the Mueller investigation with gusto, brio, and vigor.
And the way the New York Times covered it all? One story buried somewhere in the paper, not on the front page (of the digital version).
So I think we may see a strategy emerging. Cover Trump when he is open to attack, ignore Trump when he is riding high.
We’ll see how that works out in 2020. I’m predicting the NYT will soon abandon the practice. They can’t help themselves.
