Felicity Huffman is a tv or movie star, I’m not really sure. I do know that she’s the wife of William H. Macy, a movie star I like a lot. Felicity and some dozens of other rich people, including one more tv star and a bunch of corporate titans, are accused by the Feds of bribing people to get their unqualified kids into name brand colleges.
There’s a lot of resentment in the country about these big name schools. They hold the keys for any young person to move in the upper levels of society in this country, and they charge huge amounts of money. In this case they are said to not be to blame, evidently unaware of the way their own employees–who have now been fired–were working the bribery scheme. One tennis coach took $2.7mil to vouch for unqualified students. In some cases coaches were verifying a student was a star athlete when in fact the student was no athlete at all. In other cases people were hired to actually take the SAT and ACT tests for the student, by changing original answers to correct answers.
