CNN reporters and anchors and staffers are playing the victim big time.
Today, foreign correspondent Clarissa Ward claimed that Trump’s attacks on the media, specifically CNN after it got caught propagating a fake news story about a Trump ally and a Russian Bank, are leading to a dangerous situation for reporters in war zones.
“I can tell you working overseas in war zones,” said Ward, “people are emboldened by the actions of this administration, emboldened by the all-out declaration of war on the media.”
Yes all-out declarations of war against the other side are dangerous.
But evidently memories are short over there. Wasn’t it only a week or so ago a deranged leftist attempted a mass killing of Republican members of Congress, and grievously wounded Representative Steve Scalise? And isn’t Scalise still hospitalized facing even more surgeries.
And isn’t it the unrelenting campaign against Trump and his supporters and Republican members of Congress by CNN, and the New York Times and the Washington Post and that whole crowd of ridiculous snowflakes in the press room that led to the deranged leftist opening fire?
Please. Do. Not. Start. With the “he must have been mentally ill” mantra.
He was incited to violence in precisely the same manner that CNN is claiming bloodthirsty nut jobs on foreign battlefields are incited to attack reporters.
But while the CNN poured concern out for reporters who are in danger in the first place because they go to war zones, it somehow slipped their collective minds that, yes, there are people out there who are driven to violence by media fulminating, but so far it’s Republicans who have been in the cross hairs.
Perhaps they should pay a little closer attention to Scalise’s condition in the hospital. It isn’t a news story that should be forgotten or overlooked.
